Nothing Bundt Cakes opens

Nothing Bundt Cakes, a chain bakery known for bundt cakes in a variety of flavors, has officially opened its first Whatcom County location.

The bakery opened Monday, Aug. 17, according to a social media post, at 4265 Meridian St., Suite 104 — next door to Trader Joe’s in Cordata Center.

The bakery’s menu features large bundt cakes to share, as well as single-serving “bundtlets,” and bite-sized “bundtinis” in flavors like red velvet, white chocolate raspberry, confetti, lemon, chocolate chocolate chip and carrot. They also offer gluten-free options and rotating seasonal flavors.

Cali Burrito opens

Cali Burrito, a new Mexican restaurant near Bellingham’s Costco, is officially open.

“Cali Burrito in Bellingham, WA serves fresh, bold, and authentic Mexican cuisine favorites. We are known for our cali burrito, cali nachos, and quesadilla in the city. We also invite you to try our tostitos salsa verde or ruffles queso,” the restaurant’s website states.

The new restaurant is open for takeout or dining in from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily at 1317 West Bakerview Rd., Suite 102.

Planet Fitness confirms Bellingham gym

Planet Fitness has confirmed its upcoming Bellingham location, after only teasing the new gym with a billboard near Barnes and Noble on Meridian Street.

According to the company’s website, the chain of gyms is planning a new location at 1225 E Sunset Drive, Ste 125, the previous location of European Wax Center in Sunset Square.

New Fairhaven shop

A new business has opened in Bellingham’s Fairhaven neighborhood.

Trevor’s Magic Rocks — a lapidary shop started by Bellingham local Trevor Duncan, who specializes in cutting and polishing rocks — will host a grand opening event Aug. 29-30.

“This has been a long time coming. There’s something special about finally having a place where we can open the doors and say, ‘this is ours.’ This is where we get to make things, teach people, share rocks, and build something with the community,” Duncan wrote in a news release.

The grand opening event runs from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. both days and will include goodie bags for the first 50 visitors, gifts for the first 75 customers, and free lapidary demonstrations.
